It was formally opened on 8 September 1910 by Rt. Rev. A.R. Tucker
Bishop’s Senior School Mukono, part of the Bishop’s Schools established by the Church Missionary Society in 1910, began as a Teacher Training Centre before expanding into nursery and primary education. To address the lack of accessible secondary education, the Church of Uganda, led by pioneer Head Teacher Mr. A.K. Makumbi, launched two Senior classes in 1958 – marking the birth of the Senior School
A major milestone came in 1958 when the first Senior 1 and 2 (O-Level) classes were introduced under Headmaster Thomas A.K., enabling students to continue secondary studies on campus.
Since then, it has grown into a renowned centre of academic excellence, producing tens of thousands of alumni who have made significant contributions across various fields.
